Our philosophy
We appreciate that every person is unique and that health or lack of health is influenced by many internal and external factors that will vary from one person to the next.
Our approach involves deeply understanding these inter-individual factors and to view each patient as a whole. The functional medicine philosophy views the body as a ‘system of systems’ and health as a state of balance when all the organ systems of the body are working efficiently.
We assess the function of your body, not just the disease and strive to restore balance, optimal function and harmony in all the different body systems, for example, gut health, cardiovascular health, hormonal health, neurological health and immune health.
We are able to focus on a specific system, where there are problems and simultaneously, keep a macro focus of the bigger picture of the patient, maintaining our philosophy of ‘wholism’ or holistic care.
Our process
We view your health as a journey. We start with two intensive and detailed consultations where we learn all about you and start with come basic bloodwork to direct us to the biggest problem areas.
The first 3 months of treatment is usually focused on addressing your biggest health concerns and meeting your most urgent health goals – be it a better night’s sleep or improved mental clarity or perhaps a resolution of cholesterol or blood glucose problems.
From there, the health journey keeps building and progressing, as far and in as much detail as you would like to explore. After the biggest health problems are resolved, we can explore deeper aspects of health and possibly more functional and detailed testing (DNA tests, gut testing, hormone testing, metabolism profile testing) and start to address health from a more preventative point of view.
The risk of developing almost all chronic and degenerative diseases such as dementia, heart disease, arthritis and diabetes can be mitigated with early and preventative strategies. Small changes to diet or lifestyle can enormously impact your immediate sense of well-being and long term health.
